West Barn

Lake Farm is a grade II listed thatched Devon longhouse with adjoining barns. It has been nestled in the Devon countryside for well over 400 years and is set in the middle of six acres, offering a total escape from the hustle and bustle of suburban living. It is ideally positioned to accommodate social distancing and self-isolation at times when this is needed. Although no longer a working farm, we have rare breed chickens that, for the majority of the year, provide varied coloured free-range eggs for breakfast. We also have visiting rare breed sheep from a local farmer who come to eat the grass in our fields in the winter months.

Often the only thing you can hear is the sound of the birds chattering in the garden and surrounding fields, such is the peace and tranquillity of where we are. People say the evening light has a clarity and intensity of its own and many evenings finish with beautiful sunsets. Even when the south-westerly winds bring rain and wind there is nothing like hunkering down in front of a log burning stove in the comfort of your own sitting room.

West Barn offers luxurious accommodation for up to two people with off-road parking, a private entrance and free WiFi. The downstairs provides a private dining area, a cosy seating space with wood burner, 40” TV with Freeview channels, DVD player and extensive selection of DVDs, tea and coffee making facilities and a fridge stocked daily with fresh milk, still and sparkling water. At the top of the solid oak staircase, you will find the mezzanine floor with King size bed, 800 thread luxury bed linen and an ensuite shower room with large electric shower, hot towel rail and stocked with eco-friendly products. We also provide our guests with Suvin cotton towels and a hairdryer.
